Dan doesn’t turn 40 until next Saturday but his birthday has a ton of stuff going on so we celebrated it a week early. On Saturday we had a wonderful afternoon at the Mt. Timpanogos LDS Temple. I love serving and worshipping in the Temple especially with my sweetheart. http://lds.org/church/temples/mount-timpanogos-utah?lang=eng
After the Temple we went to an amazing dinner at Tocanos Brazilian Grill. Dan had a free birthday dinner which made it affordable.
After Tocanos we went to see the movie “The Help”. http://thehelpmovie.com
{Based on one of the most talked about books in years and a #1 New York Times best-selling phenomenon, “The Help” stars Emma Stone (“Easy A”) as Skeeter, Academy Award®–nominated Viola Davis (“Doubt”) as Aibileen and Octavia Spencer as Minny—three very different, extraordinary women in Mississippi during the 1960s, who build an unlikely friendship around a secret writing project that breaks societal rules and puts them all at risk. From their improbable alliance a remarkable sisterhood emerges, instilling all of them with the courage to transcend the lines that define them, and the realization that sometimes those lines are made to be crossed —even if it means bringing everyone in town face-to-face with the changing times.
Deeply moving, filled with poignancy, humor and hope, “The Help” is a timeless and universal story about the ability to create change.}
This movie was life changing. It isn’t very often that you leave a movie thinking about life and evaluating who you are and what you want to become. I will forever remember the words… you is kind…you is smart…you is important!
Then Sunday after Church I kidnapped Dan and we headed off to a surprise night away. I had been planning this night for 3 months and I am so glad it was successful! We first went to visit my grandparents.
When we first arrived to visit them they were both very sad and crying. It was a really hard situation to walk into but I was so glad that we went. After an hour being there we finally had them smiling and happy again. They are very lonely and need more visitors desperately. I wish I wasn’t an hour away but I’ll try to get down to see them more often.
Then for the big surprise… The Penthouse Suite at the Hines Mansion Bed and Breakfast!
We checked in and literally had the whole place to ourselves. Even the Night Managers left for the night to be with their family. We checked out all of the other rooms and they are all incredibly beautiful! The room was wonderful! What a wonderfully relaxing and romantic night away.
The beautiful oval window at the top of the turret is where the Jacuzzi tub is. The Penthouse suite is the whole top floor. The private stairway was beautiful, everything was beautiful!!! It will be a Birthday I’m sure Dan will always remember!!!
Awe... You two love birds are so cute! :)
ReplyDeleteI so want to go to that temple someday...
You are so beautiful, Becky. And you crack me up taking that pic of yourself in the bathtub in your clothes to post on your blog! LOL That is so something I would do :P
ReplyDeleteHappy birthday to your honey :)
