Runners I Need Opinion ASAP

So I just got an email that the Halloween Half Marathon will be run in 2 waves because of the 4000 runners.  The cut off is a time of 2:10.  I ran my first in 2:05 but I have no idea what time I might get this time because I haven't trained as hard and this is a different course.  Should I be at the back of the first wave or go at the beginning of the second wave?  Does it really matter?  It is going to be so COLD!  I just took the kids to school and it's 24 degrees outside.  I had to side step ice yesterday when I ran. I need to figure out what clothes to run in.

  1. ohhh have fun! I would pick the back of the first wave - but I don't really think it matters....it may be cold, but don't forget, you will warm up cause you are running. I would wear mini gloves, long sleeve running shirt and light jacket - but I hate getting too hot when I run. . . . . wear what you usually run in - don't stress about the weather - it will be perfect!

  2. You're so close to the cut off that to me it wouldn't matter. Plus this one is down hill, right? Better time just with that. Have fun! You'll rock it!

  3. Go with your gut on how you want to run it. I did it last year and my time was about 30 seconds better than my previous best. The first 4 are super fast and it's easy to take off on them, I trashed my legs on them and then ran extra slow o the last 9. But I still pr'd. This year I'm a little less prepared....thanks to my stupid foot. But I'm hoping by running a little slower on the big hill, I'll have more in the tank for the rest. You will rock it! You know you can do the distance, so run how you feel in your heart.

  4. I was bummed to pick a slower wave for Long Beach. Go with the back of the faster one. Have fun :)
