AGGHHH, the Scale!!!

I haven't been on the scale since my birthday a month ago.  I have been focusing on training for the half marathon and under a huge amount of stress with so many “things” going on in a very short window of time.  With stress comes overeating and bad food choices.  Yep, I haven’t mastered that lately.  Actually to be completely honest I will have 2 good days a week eating and the rest I fail miserably.  Well,  the scale doesn’t lie and so yes it was up, way up (6.5 lbs) as I had suspected.  I am trying really hard not to beat myself up but I am human.  I know what to do and how to do it.  For heaven sakes I at one point had lost 2 15 lbs.  Now I am sad that I have let some of those pounds come back.

I WILL NOT BE MORBIDLY OBESE AGAIN!!!!  I CAN’T LET THAT HAPPEN!!!

Okay, now to move on and get my eating back on track.  I don’t have a healthy relationship with food and so I really need to remove myself from the food.  That may not sound right but I am eating again just because the food is there.  I am not hungry but I eat till it’s gone.  Sadly I am starting at square one AGAIN. I need to have more faith that I can do this.  I know my Heavenly Father and Savior are there for me, I just have to do my part 100%.  I feel at peace that this is my trial right now for me to conquer and I will come out victorious.

We read this scripture in our family scripture study a couple nights ago and I know what is written here is true. I must pray in faith and I will be given the strength I need to overcome my afflictions.

  • Alma 31:38

38 And the Lord provided for them that they should hunger not, neither should they thirst; yea, and he also gave them strength, that they should suffer no manner of afflictions, save it were swallowed up in the joy of Christ. Now this was according to the prayer of Alma; and this because he prayed in faith.

I can do this and I will

    and

    so can you.

I am posting a very sweet facebook comment from a dear friend of mine so that I can come back and read it whenever I need the reminder in the future.

  • Don't let the scale define you. You are strong and lovely. You can run half marathons! You take care of kids and spend time with your husband and family. You devote time to church callings, your spirituality and serving others. No one is perfect, and that scale is always going to read different numbers. Remember you are a beautiful and cherishes daughter of God and you are doing your best. Love you, friend. (Katrina Jackson)

    Quick Race Recap

    007

3 am and ready to go!

    013014015

I grabbed a big kiss and I was off again.  These pictures are from mile 9.  I was feeling everything and was having a tough time .  My legs felt like lead but I knew I could finish.  Up to this point I was with the 1:55 pacer.  Shortly after I lot him.  I felt like my dream was just slipping away.  All I could do was the best my body had to give me this day.  Circumstances of the timing of the event made my body exhausted so I am amazed I actually could run at all!

    Tomorrow is Race Day

    164168

Cute race shirt but way to short for me to run in.  I have been out in 95 degree temperatures with smokey air (our mountain is in fire) for two very long days at Cub Scout Day camp so I hope my body can run tomorrow. I am physically and mentally exhausted so just to finish the race tomorrow is my goal.

    Am I ready?

I needed a picture today because I haven’t felt very good about my body.  My clothes are tight and I hate that! But I look at this picture and I can see a healthy woman that is working hard to be fit and strong. 166

I celebrate my 3rd anniversary of beginning my journey to a healthy life by running my 3rd half marathon on Saturday.  My body has been so exhausted lately.  I hope I can do well and feel good about the race.  My eating has been all over the place and that frustrates me.  I do feel strong but so tired.  I do have reason to be tired as there is so much going on.  I am a staff member for Cub Scout Day Camp all day tomorrow and Friday(5:30am-3pm) as well as putting together and decorating cakes, making scrapbooks and tons of other stuff for my sons Eagle Scout Court of Honor on Sunday.  I just hope to live through Sunday night.  So busy!!!  That’s the life of a mother!

    My Own Personal Half Marathon

I promise to be back into regularly blogging soon.  Time Out For Women has asked me to write an original  blog article for them so I have been pondering and considering what to write for them.  In the mean time let me tell you that I am feeling great and doing FANTASTIC.  Yesterday was my day for a long run, my last one before the American Fork Half Marathon in 2 weeks.  I set out with the goal to run at an easy pace and to do a full half marathon distance.  It wasn't easy.  About a third at least of the run I did was uphill.  I don't do well uphill and did a fast walk for a lot of the uphill portion.  Knowing that the course I was taking would be challenging, much mire challenging than the race, I told myself that I would be please with less than 2 hours 30 min.  Well I did it 2 hours 25 min exact.  It wasn't easy to keep going.  I wanted to quit several times but I couldn't let myself down.  I am not that woman anymore.

I must push myself to do more to try new things.  I need to trust myself and have faith that with God ALL things are possible.  I have really been turning back to the scriptures and writings of our latter-day prophets for guidance this week and it has made a huge difference.  I also had a beautiful experience in the Temple last night that was a huge testament to me that my Heavenly Father knows my heart.  Even though I make lots of mistakes He knows my intentions and loves me with all of my faults.

I pray that all of you are making progress toward your goals and finding peace in where you are right now.  Sometimes we need to step back and take a little break from trying so hard to work on weight and eating.  We need to love ourselves no matter where we are at in reaching our goals.  I have struggled really hard with this but I am getting much better.  After the session in the temple last night I looked in the mirror in the changing area and saw a beautiful woman, a beautiful daughter of God looking back a me.  I must remember that always.  I am a beautiful daughter of God and so are YOU!

    7 Weight Loss Program Tips

When choosing the right weight loss programs the best thing to do is
research as many options as possible and than choose the one that is best
suited for the uniqueness of you body type and lifestyle.

    1. 1. Browse the Web

Use the Internet to find out about different programs that are available in
your area. Use websites with search engines. For example, if you live in
Los Angeles California, you can search "weight loss programs Los Angeles".
Do not forget about social networking sites either. There are countless
social network sites that build profiles for their weight loss programs
with details descriptions of what they entail. Watching videos on video
hosting websites is also a great way to see exactly what the program will
    be like.

    2. 2. Get feedback

Find other people that have been part of weight loss programs in the past
and ask them for a detailed description of their experience at different
weight loss programs. If someone was part of a program that produced
satisfactory results, they will most likely be glad to share about it with
    other people

    3. Figure out your type

Your body type is either an Ectomorph, Mesomorph or Endomorph. An ectomorph
is a body with smaller frame and bone structure; has very fast metabolism
and lean muscle. Ectomorphs can usually get away with eating tons of food
and never have a problem with gaining unhealthy weight. They have low body
fat percentage by genetics. Mesomorph has large bone structure and can gain
or lose weight very easily. They can gain fat or muscle much easier than
Ectomorphs. Endomorphs have thicker and softer bodies. They have a slow
metabolism rate and find it hard to lose fat. This way you can pick a
program that is designed for your body type.

    4. 4. Find Friends

You probably already know at a couple people who are considering losing
weight just like you are. See if they would be interested in joining a
weight loss program with you. It will be more fun this way and you can help
motivate each other to work hard until you have reached your fitness goals.
They can also help you search for a better weight loss program.

    5. 5. Positive Energy

The best kind of weight loss program is the one that spreads positive
energy. Everything in the world is energy. You want to surround yourself
with positive energy to keep you motivated and in high spirits. So choose a
weight loss program that has positive people in it. Negative people will
only drag you down and impede your progress.

    6.Diet is King

Any legit fitness program should not only teach you how to do the routine
exercises but should also teach you about healthy dieting. For example, if
you have an Endomorph body type, you should avoid high calorie and high
carb diets because of your bodies natural retaining of fat. Stick to lots
of shakes and vegetables. Your training coach should be well knowledgeable
in the ingredients of the different types of foods and what they do to your
    body.

    7. 7. 24 hour access

Obviously a fitness program that allows you all the time access to the work
out equipment is your best bet. Losing weight is a huge commitment. You
have to be focused 100% of the time and be training as much as you possibly
can if you want to be successful. If it means being up at 4am to hit the
gym, so be it. You should never have to miss out on a work out session
    because your gym is closed.

Don’t forget the summer that we are upon. Summer is a great time to start
or update your fitness regiment. Have fun, and good luck!

    Birthday Goal

    224252236

    215

So I didn’t quite reach my goal of 195 lbs but I barely made it into the 100’s.  I am trying hard right now to figure out exactly what I want for my “normal” exercise and eating routine.  I want to be healthy but not overly fixated on food and exercise. I am happy with how my body looks but I do wish my clothes from the past 2 summers still fit.  My body is still changing and trying to find its shape.
